January appointment update

(I have no ultrasound picture to share...but this is what the baby is supposed to look like at 21 weeks)
I saw my doctor this morning and it was probably the quickest appointment I have had yet. I read in my books that most prenatal appointments don't last very long.....they check your weight, blood pressure and urine sample at the beginning and then when the doctor sees you, if you don't have questions, you're pretty much done. I didn't have any questions this time.....everything has been perfectly fine, I don't even feel like I'm pregnant aside from my clothes being a bit tighter. She listened to the baby's heartbeat and said it was normal. She said my weight is good.....luckily I've only gained a couple pounds since my pregnancy began. She mentioned that usually after 32 weeks, that's when I'll gain the most weight since I'll be hungry all the time. So I guess it's good to save my weight gain until the end!! For those that are overweight, a typical weight gain is usually between 15-25 lbs.....I'm shooting for only gaining 15 lbs, wish me luck! It's just so hard for me to lose weight normally so the least I can gain during this time, the better. Since I'm publishing that goal, I have to do my best to stick to it right?! People tell me I'll lose a lot of the weight through breastfeeding.......I hope that's true in my case!!!! Right now I'm looking into Prenatal Yoga.......it's on Tuesdays at 7:30 pm. I'll write about how that goes on my next post.....See ya!

We are convinced now, it's definitely a girl!!

This morning we had another ultrasound and so we have some new pictures to share with you, woo hoo (my favorite is the one of her with one hand in her mouth)!! During last week's ultrasound, I wasn't 100% convinced that our baby is a girl.....especially in the way the ultrasound tech explained it, that she couldn't find any male body parts. Another reason I wasn't convinced we have a girl is that Charles' side of the family is mostly male, (he has no sisters and no nieces)....so the likelihood in our minds of us having a girl was slim. This time around though, we know it's a girl because we saw with our own eyes the reflection of the labia, confirming for us FEMALE body parts! The doctor came in shortly after and confirmed for us for the 4th time, that it's a girl. At that point, I was definitely sold! As I mentioned before, I'm excited....we're excited!! I already started buying a few baby girl clothes....just small stuff, onesies, a dress, a pink hoodie...all super cute and on sale, even better. How exciting though, to shop for someone other than me and Charles.....and the cute fact that they're all tiny, tiny clothes!!! If you don't already know, shopping is my joy so this adds to my joy:)

Half way there!

Yesterday marked our half way point......2o weeks!! I don't know how other moms felt during their pregnancy but 40 weeks seems like forever! Well, I probably feel this way because I've been soooo excited since the day I found out I was pregnant and I just can't wait until our baby is finally here. I'm a patient person.....but I won't lie, the anxiety is killing me!!! Hopefully the next 20 weeks go by fast :)

Oh yeah, forgot to mention that the EDD (expected due date) is May 31st!!

It is a boy? Is it a girl?

This morning we had an ultrasound appointment to determine the sex of the baby. We went to the Lakeview Hospital in Anaheim at 8 am. I was in pain for an hour as I had to drink 24 ounces of water one hour before my appointment and was just dying to release!!!! Lately I've been needing to go the the restroom more often than usual, especially in the mornings, so that was just an uncomfortable feeling to have to hold it in. Anyhow, as for the sex, the doctor was not able to find any "male body parts". So, as of right now, we are expecting a baby girl!!! As you may know, we were both hoping for a baby boy, but I'm thrilled either way, boy or girl. Both our parents want us to have a girl so I know they will be excited to hear the news. They say it's never 100% accurate so you just don't really know until it comes out! As for mamma, she can't wait to start buying stuff for the baby.....so if it's a girl, it should stay a girl, or else the boy is wearing pink clothes!!!!

We're starting a baby blog!

Welcome to our new blog!! We thought (well, mostly me, Lilly) this website/blog would be a great way to share our pregnancy experience with everyone. I started out writing some emails but then, I think this whole blog thing would be easier and more fun. We cannot wait for our little baby to join our family and wanted you to all feel part of our joy!! Eventually I'll be posting more stuff......of course lots of ultrasound pictures as I receive them from the doctor, and when I'm daring enough to show all of you my baby bump, that will come up as well. Thanks for visiting us here!!!!
